City Touch Round 8
Another big win for the City Scorpions Girls, 9-0 over WDTA Fruittis.
A big pre-game warm-up by some of the girls resulted in them being very fired up for the start of the game, and we ran rough-shod right over the opposition. To their credit, Fruittis only had one reserve, and they put up a great fight, but when Amy scores halfway through 'Bananas' (she didn't really need to dive, though) we know we are streets ahead of them. Scoring opportunities came thick & fast, with some good middle setups creating a big overlap on the wing.
However, we need to remember that the teams we will be playing in State League, and when we go away with our various State Teams will be much better than the Park Touch we have been playing. I hope to see a bit of depth when we are in attack, and to keep the effort going when defending. Especially making sure the Long-Side players push across to Shut Down when the ball is switched back in.
Speaking of State League, we are playing on Friday, and most of this team will be playing Womens, starting at 7:30. If we can be there nice and early, we'll have a decent warm-up, and hopefully be ready to go at the start.
I won't be there on Sunday (I'm going to Sydney), so I'd like to spend a bit of time straight after the game talking to the team. I'll run the same team for both games, which I'll try and announce this afternoon.
[EDIT]Lucy Alver - there, her name is on here again!
